Balu Subramanya is the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of CivicSmart with broad technology and transportation industry experience. Balu is an innovator, mixing his acute acumen for solving business problems and creating economic value with his passion for advanced technologies and data management systems including wireless and embedded devices, Internet of Things technologies, software architecture and design, and urban parking and traffic management systems. He holds multiple patents globally for parking technologies, including vehicle detection sensors.

Balu’s career includes launching transportation technology startups Spectrovation, LLC and Global Technology Consultants, LLC, and serving in senior technology roles focused on sensors, wireless and intelligent transportation technologies at Duncan Solutions, ACS, LCC, and for Raytheon at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.

Balu holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Instrumentation Engineering from Bangalore University, as well as a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering-Communications and Space Sciences from Penn State University.
